The Mortal Instruments series, a best-selling Young Adult fantasy franchise created by Cassandra Clare, will be made into “a high-end drama series” for television according to The Hollywood Reporter. Constantin Film, the production company that controls the rights to both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series, originally planned on creating a film franchise, however this idea was shelved after The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones film earned only $31 million at the domestic box office.

Ed Decter, whose writer-producer credits include Helix, Unforgettable, In Plain Sight and The Client List, has been hired as the show-runner/executive producer for the Mortal Instruments series. The project is currently in development, with Constantin planning to begin production next year.
